Salt Lake City Garage Door Repair
Is your garage door causing you headaches these days? Are you planning on hiring a repairman who may give you a hefty bill by the hour to fix it? Are you ready to spend the money to buy the parts of the garage door to make it work again?
Whether your answer is a yes or a no, the thing is that fixing the garage door is a complicated task as most of it is electronically operated. However, there are also instances when the problems may only require very minimal work. Even if you have the money to spare for a garage door repair, it would be worth trying to fix that by yourself first before dragging a professional home. And yes, you can try to give it its “first aid” treatment without causing it further damage.
Most of the time, the problems with garage doors are simple and common sense. And by saying that, I mean a simple check up will do.
Here are some of the most common troubleshooting methods you can do when doing a garage door repair.
- Squeaky sounds? Try to check for rust. Who would want to open and close a garage door that makes that awful noise that can wake up an entire neighborhood? If this is what is causing your problem, then consider yourself lucky because rust may just be the reason for it. Look through the bolts, nuts, screws, and springs to see if rust is eating them. If so, you can apply some lubricating oil or replace those really rusty ones. This problem really does not call for a repairman.
- Your remote control does not seem to work. There are only two problems related to this. One could be because the battery power is low. In such a case, you only have to try to insert a new set of batteries and try the remote control again. If it works, then your problem is solved. If not, it could be that you are holding it too far from the sensor. There is a certain limit for all sensors. Try to point the remote control closer to the sensor.
- Your garage door does not close or open. This problem is somewhat related to the previous one. But if there is nothing wrong with the remote control, then try to move your sensor to a lower point so that it can be reached by the remote control.
- Sometimes, loose screws and bolts can cause inefficiency to your garage door. To manage this, you just need to check the tiny parts of your door and tighten them up to make the opening and closing smoother.
A garage door repair doesn’t always have to be expensive. You just have to use your common sense and ingenuity. Only when you think the problem is too difficult do you have to seek a repairman.
